Mark signed up with the NHS in his 30s after leaving his family's business without any official certifications, however a drive to make a distinction. In July 2023, after an active vacation kayaking and walking, Bob unexpectedly had a stroke. He was zipped air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he invested four weeks restoring. 'I used the gym regularly and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehab programme for individuals who have had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured timetable which provided me something to look forward to each week - socially, psychologically and emotionally.' Bob thanked NHS personnel for 'the great assistance' and the continuous physiotherapy he got. Well done Bob and excellent work team! Early recognition of stroke symptoms can save lives. ' Working together with nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to think, 'I could do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who started her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she signed up with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve clients in Hertfordshire. 'I liked helping individuals and discovering the body, so nursing simply felt right.' Sharon reflects. Sharon has actually worked in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy among others, showing the broad variety of locations in which nurses make a distinction. 'Truly, I can't think of a location where nurses don't make an effect in some kind,' Sharon confesses. On why her function is special, Sharon discusses, 'The care, compassion, and empathy we bring make the nursing function distinct.
